One Day Sample Wheel Class
One Day Sample Wheel Class
Join NYC's premier pottery studio for hands-on wheel throwing classes. Perfect for beginners with no pottery experience. Located in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan. All pieces ready for pickup in just one week
If you want to try pottery but never had the chance, this class is for you. This complete beginners pottery class introduces you to pottery basics in the heart of New York City, taught by experienced instructors at NYC's only studio dedicated to marbling techniques.
During this two-hour Pottery crash course in NYC, your teacher will begin with introductions and a tour of the space, tools, and equipment. Then you'll witness a demonstration and learn clay terminology like coning, centering, and pulling. But here's where Zerimar Clay gets unique – you'll choose from four distinctive heritage clay types, each with its own story:
• Nemadji - Beautiful swirled pottery from Minnesota that mimics natural river stones
• Niloak - Arkansas's famous marbled pottery tradition from the early 1900s
• Catawba - American pottery techniques from the Carolinas
• Agate - Named after the natural stone patterns it mimics
After the demo, you'll sit at your own wheel and create with your chosen clay. This is a crash course, so participants are encouraged to be open-minded with final products. You'll have as many attempts as class time allows, and can save one piece to be fired.
The last fifteen minutes are for cleanup. After choosing your piece your work will be fired, finished, and glazed, ready for pickup in one week, the fastest of any studio! You have a 14-day grace period starting one week after class (no pickups available three weeks after class).
Leave with both creating a unique handmade piece and knowledge of traditional pottery heritage clays!
