One Day Sample Wheel
One Day Sample Wheel
If you want to try pottery but never had the chance, this class is for you. This class is for complete beginners where you will learn pottery basics! Held in the heart of New York City and taught by an experienced instructor, you will leave class having been introduced to the fundamentals of pottery wheel making.
Your teacher will begin with introductions and move into a tour of how to use the space, tools, and equipment. Then, you will be shown a demonstration and learn clay terminology like coning, centering, and pulling. After watching the demo, you will sit at your own wheel and give it a go.
This is a crash course and participants are encouraged to be open-minded with the final products. You will be able to have as many attempts as class time allows, and if you like one of your final creations, you can save it and have it fired. Students can keep one piece per person.
The last fifteen minutes of class are for cleaning up, and after you choose your single piece, you can also choose the glaze for it to be decorated in (by a staff member). We have several color options available.
The work, fired, finished, and glazed, will be ready to pick up in one week. You have a 14-day grace period to pick up your work starting a week after class. This means that no pickups are available three weeks after your class.
